Who Am I:
I grew up and went to school in Pennsylvania. After graduating with my B.S. in Chemical Engineering, I went to Kenai, AK to volunteer for a few months. After an amazing experience in AK and meeting my future husband I moved to Chicago, IL to join the work force. After three years my husband and I decided we needed a change and moved to AK where we got pregnant with our son. I have had the honor of attending births for over 3 years in Anchorage, AK. We moved to OR with my family in 2015 and took some time off to welcome my twins in August 2015.
Philosophy:
I feel that all women should have a choice to birth however they want. No matter what birth looks like for each woman that vision should be able to be created. Women need to feel loved and supported during their pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. I don't go to births with any personal preconceived ideas of how it should play out. Every birth is different for each women and each child. Your birth plan is my birth plan. I am there to support your wants and needs, and then exceed them in every way possible.
Why am I a Doula:
I have had many amazing experiences with collectives of women, so when I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted to be surrounded by them during my son's birth. Unfortunately, we had just moved to Alaska and had no family in the area; therefore, I knew I would want a doula at my side. She was an amazing contribution to my labor and delivery and I can't imagine my home birth any differently. She made my experience so pleasurable. After that, I knew I wanted to be able to offer that level of support and love to other women. Since then I have fallen in love with what I do. Each birth I attend is a unique and a blessing.
